Getting ready for Africa 2015 …. Feb. 1st
We are going to gather  9 churches ….
Their leaders together for 2 days !   ( ok God ! ?)

Why Moses ,  as a leader did not get to enter the Promise Land….
** thinking of ourself…what God has asked us to do
what God has put us “in front of ”
what God has shown us ….yet we can not attain ?

What God asked Moses to do =
Numbers 20: 7
” The Lord said to Moses, 8.  ” take the staff,
and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly
together.  SPEAK TO THE ROCK ……. before their
eyes and IT WILL pour out its water….YOU will 
bring water out of the rock for the COMMUNITY
so they and their livestock can drink.”

God wanted to show amazing power through Moses
God wanted to show the whole group of people
All Moses had to do was SPEAK…no human effort
No glory could be given to MOSES because Moses
did not TOUCH anything in his humanity….
ALL GLORY  would and could only be given TO GOD ALONE.

but then :   ” DRAWING ATTENTION TO SELF”
but then :   ” LOOK @ WHAT GOD IS GOING TO DO THRU ME ”
but then :  ” Humility was left behind and MOSES had to be seen ”

Numbers 20: 9
” So Moses took the staff from the Lord’s presence,
just as he commanded him, ”
( Moses is following God still )
vs. 10 ” He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in
front of the rock . ”   ( still good )
…and Moses said to them, “ LISTEN YOU REBELS”

( demeaning others …..? )   blew it !
( edifying self ….. ? )   blew it !

If he showed them what they are NOT…… makes Him look ?

vs. 10 …” must WE bring you water out of this rock ? ”

** seriously ?   IT is all about the …….SELF….about the SELF …

and here goes MOSES….showing all the authority HE HAS
and here goes MOSES…showing all the power HE HAS
and here goes MOSES …showing all the wisdom HE HAS…..

Numbers 20: 11
”  Then Moses raised HIS ARM  and
struck the rock, TWICE ”

** prove it again MOSES, prove it again !

Yep…vs. 11 …”  and water gushed out ”
By the GRACE OF GOD
FOR THE PEOPLE’s needs…..
FOR THE PEOPLE…God still met their need…

Despite….the Leadership quality of Moses…..

” Moses and Aaron had drawn attention to
THEMSELVES…rather than trusting the LORD..
and they were DENIED entrance into the
PROMISE LAND ! ”

Man…. wow…..Leadership….
Luke 12: 48
” from everyone who has been given much,
MUCH will be demanded”

He was given MUCH…by God…+
Moses would be DENIED much….by God !
Moses had a HUGE disappointment
Moses had a HUGE denial by GOD.

The place was called Meribah = quarreling
not obedience
not humility…
but not obeying and giving GOD all
THE GLORY….
not staying ” silent in our flesh “…
not showing others – how little they are
” you rebels, do we the almighty ? ”
small ” a ”   almighty ….

Oh SELF….Oh FLESH of mine….
” will I keep myself from seeing all
God has for me ?  It said, you put Joshua
instead…..it was Moses’ choice.  He was offered
to lead many people….but because of SELF
Disappointed + Denied.

Humility –  is truly a character to be chased after.
Humility – Lets God be God…to and in others
Humility –  GIVES ALL glory … GOD….

He will get His mission done…..for the People
He may not use us …..” lesson learned ”
